Cebu City Philippines

We enjoyed much in our Bohol Adventure and we almost forget our schedule going back to Cebu. As promised by our friend it’s her turn to show us around Cebu City.  Cebu is the second capital of the Philippines and known as the oldest city in the country. On March 16, 1521 the Philippines was discovered my Ferdinand Magellan the Portuguese explorer, he landed in Cebu last April 7, 1521 and welcomed by the king Rajah Humabon.  Our first stop Taoist Temple though the temple is located away from the city we went there since it is also part of their tourist attraction. Since Philippines have trade relations with China and Japan in 9th Century, there’s no doubt that we have some Chinese influences. Magellan discovered Philippines but he died also in Philippines particularly in Mactan where there is a Mactan Shrine and a statue of Lapu-Lapu made of bronze and a 20 meter tall. Mactan island is the place where Lapu-Lapu, a native soldier who defeated Magellan in the battle of Mactan on 1521. Philippines are known to have so many festivals, and Cebu is known for Sinulog, we did not missed to drop by and go to Basilica de Sto. Niño.  Magellan Cross is situated nearby and just in front of the City Hall. The cross was planted by the Spaniards upon arriving in Cebu as per Magellan Ordered to them. What we missed only during our stay in Cebu that time is doing the skywalk and edge coaster at the top of Crown Regency Hotel.
